We lead - and win - with our members
In January, we asked our members what their priorities were in 2020. Despite the pandemic, we delivered major wins on all four of their top priorities this year:
Improve the T Third
We fought for the inclusion of transit-first improvements on 4th Street Bridge as part of the city's Transportation Recovery Plan.
We worked with communities in the Bayview bringing back the 15 bus.
Transit Priority
We worked with SFMTA and the Board of Supervisors to implement 10 miles of new transit-only lanes along the 14 Mission, 19 Polk, 38 Geary, 43 Masonic and 44 O'Shaughnessy. Each improvement makes the entire network work better.
Rider Safety
With the local operators union, TWU 250A, we distributed over 2,000 cloth and surgical masks to Muni riders and operators.
We won major upgrades to NextMuni information for riders.
Equitable Transit Funding
We passed Measure RR - saving Caltrain from shutdown - with 73% of the vote in San Francisco.
We stopped a Muni fare increase that would have hurt low-income riders.
The future of transit is in our hands

Public transit is facing the very real possibilities of layoffs and more permanent service cuts - only through strong advocacy can we hope to secure needed transit funding and build a better transit future.

- Save Muni from disastrous cuts by engaging communities across the city to advocate for emergency federal and local transit funding
- Convert temporary transit-only lanes into permanent red lanes, moving us closer to our 30x30 vision of a rapid transit network
- Expand our outreach to more high schools in San Francisco, educating students on how to use transit and to speak up for better service
